DILI, 19 November 2025 — The National Parliament has approved the 2026 budget allocation for the Ministry of Planning and Strategic Investment (MPIE), totaling $4,304,887 under the General State Budget (GSB) for fiscal year 2026. The vote concluded with 41 in favour, 21 abstentions and none against during the specialty debate held on Wednesday (19/11).

The approved budget is distributed as follows:

• Salaries and Wages: $2,229,785

• Goods and Services: $1,722,602

• Minor Capital: $150,000

• Capital Development: $202,500

MPIE will implement five programs, ten sub-programs and twenty-one activities, including:

1. Programme 023 (Public Finance Management),
2. Programme 510 (Institutional Functioning and Development),
3. Programme 980 (Social Inclusion),
4. Programme 984 (Territorial Planning),
5. Programme A28 (Planning and Strategic Investment).

The debate was chaired by the President of the National Parliament, Maria Fernanda Lay, and attended by Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, government members and other relevant entities.

The total proposed 2026 General State Budget stands at $2,214,689,195, allocated across salaries, operational services, public transfers, minor capital and development capital.
