To address the various challenges and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is crucial to strategically utilize geospatial information—collected and maintained by different organizations in various formats, combined with reliable base cartographic data, and applied in a timely manner—to provide context, support decision-making, and promote effective actions.
In addition, it is essential to ensure the adequate availability of geospatial services to everyone, anytime, anywhere. With this goal in mind, this workshop will present a prototype of an institutional model in which the government publishes base maps as open, highly accessible information, encouraging the strategic use of geospatial information—including both open and restricted data—by relevant organizations involved in addressing SDG-related challenges.
Vision to Share
Timor-Leste needs to ensure access to high-quality geospatial information, collaboratively developed by responsible institutions.
It is vital to consider the benefits of sharing this information with a broader community, promoting access through increasingly open and available platforms.
Workshop Objectives
Participants will engage in in-depth discussions through presentations and demonstrations of modern technology prototypes, gaining an understanding of the potential and effectiveness of the strategic use of geospatial information—including data from the National Center for Geospatial Data (CNDG)—to tackle the specific challenges faced by each institution in the context of the SDGs.
