The Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, on Wednesday (21/01/2026), conducted a direct field observation to assess the progress of the rehabilitation of the road connecting Noefefan, Lifau suco, Pante Makasar sub-region, to Oenunu, Suni-Ufe suco, Nitibe sub-region, in the Special Administrative Region of Oecusse Ambeno (RAEOA).
Following the site visit, the technical team from Waskita Karya presented to the Prime Minister an update on the progress of the implementation of the road rehabilitation project.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister stated that the Government will continue to place its trust in contracted companies that carry out works with quality and in accordance with the technical specifications outlined in the contract. He emphasized that the quality of infrastructure development remains a top priority to ensure tangible benefits for the population and regional development.
The Prime Minister also instructed the National Development Agency (ADN) and the RAEOA Regional Directorate of Infrastructure (DRI) to maintain rigorous monitoring and provide continuous guidance to the company, warning that failure to meet quality standards may result in the company being blacklisted.
The Noefefan–Oenunu road rehabilitation project is implemented under Contract No. 57/2025/PA/RAEOA-TL, with a total length of 11.7 kilometres, a budget of USD 9,656,882.78, and a duration of 12 months, from 19 December 2025 to 19 December 2026.
The field observation was accompanied by the Minister of Planning and Strategic Investment (MPIE), Eng. Gastão Fransisco de Sousa; the Minister of State Administration (MAE), Tomás do Rosário Cabral; the President of the RAEOA Authority, Régio da Crúz Salu; and the Executive Director of the National Development Agency (ADN), Januário M. Guterres.
