DILI, 24 July 2025 – The Ministry of Planning and Strategic Investment (MPIE), through the Integrated Planning Unit (IPU), led by the UPI Coordinator, Ms. Epi Orleães, in collaboration with the World Bank Group, held a technical discussion on the “National Roadmap for Housing Market Development” at the conference hall of the National Development Authority (ADN, IP) in Fatuhada.

The objective of this meeting was to define coordination strategies for the development of the housing market in line with urban planning and classification of a roadmap for affordable and resilient housing in Timor-Leste. This serves as a forward-looking foundation aligned with the planning vision and policy priorities of the IX Constitutional Government.

At the closing of the working session, H.E. Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Planning and Strategic Investment (MPIE), Ms. Santina José Rodrigues F. Viegas Cardoso, in her remarks emphasized that the discussion represents an important exercise for Timor-Leste in building a more sustainable and equitable nation. She noted that the program reflects a collective commitment from both the Government and the private sector to respond to the fundamental needs of citizens, ensuring that every family in Timor-Leste has access to safe, dignified, adequate, and affordable housing.

The technical discussions were held over four days, from 21 to 24 July 2025, and brought together participation from key ministerial lines, including MDRHC, MF-DNPPP, MJ-CLP, DGTP, MOP-DGHU, MAE-DGDAL, SEATOU-DGTOU, SEI, SEDL-DGDL, ANLA, I.P., as well as financial institutions such as BCTL, CCITL, BRI, BNCTL, BNU, KAEBAUK, MORIS RASIK, and VINOD PATEL.
